What Is Healthy Texas?
Who We Are
Healthy Texas is a partnership between the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Libraries and the Women and Family Health Information Network (The Network). The Network is an umbrella organization of 30+ community-based health organizations, working together to improve health and the quality of life for people in South Texas.
Healthy Texas provides two main services, health topics and a directory.
- 1. The Healthy Texas Health Topics includes basic health information on topics that are especially important to those living in South Texas. Most topics were listed in Healthy Border 2010 as being concerns to our region. Our health topics focus on the needs of people in South Texas, with information on regional events and activities, health research and clinical studies. Our community members contribute to the pages by writing health topics, sharing stories and artwork, and volunteering to develop the pages. The pages are written to be clear and concise and provide just the basics. For more details, we link to other high quality pages, like MedlinePlus.
- 2. The Healthy Texas Directory lists people, facilities and services for health care. For example, you will find contact information for doctors, counselors, clinics, nursing homes, support groups, and more. The directory covers the 38 counties in South Texas.
