Express yourself!
Art and stories

Artistic expression is an important part of our lives. Art can help us express what we are feeling, a memory, or a moment that has happened we do not want to forget. Art provides a pathway for communication and self expression. It can also help us cope with stress, pain and sadness.

Many people use art to help them heal and cope with the challenges of a life-threatening illness. Through writing, stitching, painting, sculpting and poetry, we share a view of what makes us so wonderfully human.

You do not have to have artistic ability to be creative. There is no best path for artistic self-expression. The freedom to express who you are creatively can be an important part of the healing process.

The Healthy Texas Gateway invites you to share your artistic expressions. Your art might be a poem or story, or it might be a painting, photography, collage or textile art. You might even want to suggest a workshop, or idea that would help support a person's health journey.

Healthy Texas Tapestry

The Healthy Texas Tapestry is a collection of art blocks that were created by our community members. Each art block represents various aspects of health and the journeys that are made to recovery.
